What's Next?
Hey there! Happy New Year! I hope you have a fantastic year ahead, filled with blessings and success.
My final post of last year covered everything I accomplished, so it only makes sense that my first post of this year covers what I plan to do this time around. Without further ado, here are some of my key goals for the year.
Health & Fitness
Health is essential for a full life. This year, I want to test my body’s limits and finally take care of some important aspects I’ve neglected, like skincare.
Getting Fit
I’m planning to create 7 specific workout routines: A, B, and C for the upper body; A, B, and C for the lower body; and one lower-intensity full-body routine for gap days. Once those are defined, I’ll set specific goals for weights and times to track my progress. Beyond the gym, I also want to swim more frequently—it’s just fun.
Facial Skin Care
I’m 25 now, and I’m officially done waiting for the myth that “acne will go away on its own when you reach adulthood” to come true. To be honest, I’ve never been serious about skincare. I’d wash my face religiously for a couple of weeks and then drop the routine entirely.
This time will be different. I plan to take my skincare as seriously as any other critical part of my life. If I can commit to the gym for two hours every day, surely I can spare 5 minutes morning and night to wash my face.
Language Learning
I don’t plan to learn any new verbal languages this year, but I do plan to double down on practicing English and Portuguese. That said, I’m increasingly curious about sign language. I’m fascinated by the idea of communicating with the body—not just for interacting with the deaf community, but to enhance expression in all my relationships. Whether that curiosity is enough to sustain a full learning journey remains to be seen.
Personal
I have plenty of personal goals. The most important ones fall into these categories:
Skills
I want to refine skills like cooking, public speaking, negotiation, and socializing. Every day brings a new opportunity to improve, and I intend to seize those chances to become the best version of myself.
Technologies
I want to dive into some new technologies. As a software engineer, staying up-to-date is part of the job description. Right now, I’m thinking about publishing an app built with Flutter, creating a library in Rust (maybe exploring WebAssembly), and deepening my infrastructure knowledge with AWS.
Reading
Reading as much as I possibly can.
Reaching 30 subscribers for the blog
Some months I have thousands of readers, which is amazing. I want to publish even more engaging content and connect with more of you, building a subscriber base that allows me to reach people consistently without relying on viral hits. If you want to support that goal, subscribe below!
Projects
I have a process: idea, plan, design, code, deploy. I know I’ll ship at least three projects this year: my classic Pi Day Project on March 14th, the Drawmatic web diagramming framework I’ve been building, and one other mystery project I have in mind.
There’s also one major project I want to turn into a real business with paying customers this year. Fingers crossed.
So, What’s Next?
I’ve got a lot on my plate, so I definitely won’t be bored. I’ll be learning, practicing, exercising, and improving. What about you? Do you have big goals for the year? The best time to start was yesterday; the second-best time is today. I challenge you to push yourself and keep growing right alongside me!
