The Importance of a Landing Page: A Lesson from Launching an AI Medical Assistant
Last month, I launched AI José Gregorio. The reception was phenomenal. People loved the idea.
But then, I noticed a problem.
People were confused. I was sharing a direct link to the chat interface. For me (the creator), it was obvious. For a new user? It was just a blank screen with a text box. They didn’t know what to ask or why they were there.
I realized I was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle: A Landing Page.
What is a Landing Page?
It’s the “Welcome Mat” of your product. Ideally, it’s a standalone page designed with a single goal: Conversion.
Unlike your homepage (which might have links to your blog, contact info, about me, etc.), a landing page focuses on one thing: “Use this app.”
Why You Need One
1. Context is King
When I shared the direct link, I assumed everyone had read my blog post explaining the app. Spoiler: They hadn’t.
A landing page bridges the gap. It tells the user:
- What this is.
- Why they should value it.
- How to use it.
2. Trust Building
A random chat interface looks sketchy. A polished landing page with an “About,” “Features,” and “FAQ” section looks professional. It builds trust before the user even types their first message.
3. One Ring to Rule Them All
Now, I have a single link to share. Whether it’s on Instagram, LinkedIn, or a WhatsApp group, everyone lands on the same informative page. No more explaining the app in the caption every single time.
The Result
I built the landing page for José Gregorio over a weekend.
The result? Users stopped asking “how do I use this?” and started actually using it.
Lesson learned: You can build the best tool in the world, but if people don’t understand it in the first 5 seconds, they won’t use it. Build the landing page.
